Any development intervention certainly benefits many citizens but may affect some citizens. Development project may have an adverse impact on the income of project-affected persons. The basic postulates of all developmental activities should be that no one is worse off than before the project. Hence, this project intervention has considered its major role in restoring the atleast the present status of affected citizen/population. Restoration of pre-project levels of income is an important part of rehabilitating socio-economic and cultural systems in affected communities. To achieve this goal, preparation of income restoration plan was prepared in consultation with the affected persons and they explicitly approved the program.
The main occupation of the project affected persons in the affected village is agriculture. Agriculture is worst affected due to wide spread use of chemical fertilizer by farmers. It reduces soil fertility. Farmers in the areas were very much worried about reduction in crop production, requirement of variety of seeds for agriculture & increased no. of disease (heart attack, blood pressure & sugar etc). Hence, on consultation with the affected person the R & R agency decided to organize income restoration training on “production of organic manure”. The affected people were imparted training on vermi compost through field demonstration. SH project-wise/ Road-wise, training & support for income restoration has been organized is presented in table & figure.
